Supported Exposure Therapy in a Naturalistic Environment |
Our treatments engage and incorporate the real world. First and foremost, the intensive outpatient and day treatment approaches allow our clients to balance comprehensive care with exposure to the real world, and real stressors. This allows the client to generalize what she experiences in treatment into her daily life. As part of the treatment, staff regularly go into local communities with our clients. Together, we shop for groceries and clothing, experience restaurants, share in meal preparation, and support the individual needs of the client’s body, mind and spirit.
Food and meals are managed in a naturalistic way in our programs, leading to responsible, mindful eating. Meals are not in a cafeteria, on a tray; rather, meals will be served in an intimate and supportive setting, providing individuals with the comfort and support they need to face their eating disorder.
We believe that real world exposure during treatment, with the support of our treatment team, is a key factor in avoiding relapse after treatment ends. |
